A nearly 200-year-old commercial structure in Santa Fe that has housed a popular Spanish food restaurant is up for sale.

Located at 808 Canyon Road, the nearly 5,000-square-foot structure was built in 1835 and is known as the El Faro Building.

Designated as a Class C structure, the building sits on a less than one-acre site in the city’s historic district and has been the home to the world famous El Faro Restaurant, prominently listed in the 2023 book Oldest Restaurants in the USA and Europe.

The establishment was hailed by the New York Times as “one of the best bars on earth,” and visited by the likes of Willie Nelson, John Denver, and Robert Redford.

For several reasons, the restaurant and tavern, well known for its regular flamenco dinner shows ceased operations late last year.

The building, which has through the years undergone some renovation and upgrade work, includes a modern kitchen, bar, outdoor patio, and wooden ceilings and floors.

The property, with an asking price of $2.5 million, is being listed with the Santa Fe-based Real Estate Advisors.
