Construction plans are now finalized for the building of a mixed-use structure that will go up at the intersection of 95th Avenue and Montebello Avenue in Glendale, Arizona.
The site will help to serve the parking needs of the massive nearby 60-acre VAI Resort, which will include, among many other amenities, a theme park, water features, and four hotels.
Members of the Glendale City Council have signed off on a lease agreement that will see the site, near a block that will provide up to 4,000 parking spaces, used primarily for security purposes as VAI guests enter the resort.
The $1.2 billion resort itself, pegged to be one of the largest of its kind in the southwest, has been under construction for four years and is expected to see a phased opening beginning later this year.
As part of its lease agreement with the VAI Resort developers, Glendale city council members required the construction of a pedestrian bridge that will cross over 95th Avenue, facilitating resort foot traffic.
A 2,000-square-foot section of the mixed-use structure that will go up at the 95th Avenue and Montebello Avenue site will also be used by the city for police and emergency response purposes.
Followed closely by both the regional and national press, the construction of the VAI Resort is also seeing the building of nearly a dozen restaurants, a nightclub venue, and 11,000-seat amphitheater.
The publication Recommend Magazine last week said the VAI Resort will be “Arizona’s largest entertainment resort,” with guest rooms surrounding the development’s performance space providing a “glimpse into the future of concert-viewing accommodations.”
