Construction is expected to launch sometime this coming summer on a series of upgrade projects belonging to a major ski company in Aspen.
The Aspen Skiing Company, which is based in Aspen and owns and operates the four mountains of Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands, and Aspen Mountain, has announced that it wants to spend nearly $80 million in infrastructure improvements.
Those improvements will include the installation of new chairlifts, renovated dining space, and the replacement of a platter lift at the Snowmass facility, which is located in the town of Snowmass Village.
The upgrade to the Elk Camp restaurant space will see the expansion of its deck capacity by around 120 seats, as well as the installation of shaded summer and heated winter space.
Also planned: the dismantling of the famous Ullrhoff mountain restaurant originally built in the late 1960s, to be replaced by a structure with more interior and exterior seating, restaurant, and bar space. It is thought that the building of the new Ullrhoff won’t be completed until the fall of 2026.
Ullrhoff, notes the Aspen Times, has been “cherished by multiple generations of skiers and families.”
In a statement, Geoff Buchhesiter, Aspen Skiing Company chief executive officer, said the new projects represent a “commitment to ongoing investment in delivering the most exceptional guest experience possible.”
