A 14-story building with a penthouse offering a sweeping view of the Rocky Mountains may soon be up for sale due to a Trump administration move to unload underused federal properties.
Located in the 670-acre Denver Federal Center campus off Kipling Street in the city of Lakewood, the DFC Building 67 comprises some 372,000 square feet and is one of nearly two dozen buildings in the vicinity that the federal government may want to get rid of.
The potential sale of the building, which is owned by the U.S. General Services Administration, is in response to the Department of Government Efficiency initiative spearheaded by businessman and presidential advisor Elon Musk.
Long used primarily as offices for the Bureau of Reclamation, the modernist-designed DFC Building 67 also includes a spacious lobby, conference room and training space, a food service area, and light industrial space.
An exact date for when the structure will be listed for sale has not yet been announced. Altogether, there are some 4 million square feet of buildings in the Denver Federal Center, with roughly 3 million square feet housing offices for the National Science Foundation.
