The City of Santa Fe has issued a Request for Proposals for the construction of a transit center that will serve the city-wide Santa Fe Trails Bus System.
The project has been in the planning stage for several years. In the spring of 2018, the Federal Transit Administration arm of the Department of Transportation awarded the city $2 million in funding to complete the project.
In a press release from the FTA at the time of that grant award it was stated that construction of the new center will “improve safety, efficiency, and accessibility” to the city’s transportation services.
Designed by the Santa Fe-based architectural firm of Autotroph, the project will see the renovation of an existing 9,400 square foot building as well as the building of passenger platforms and assembly of eight shelter structures.
According to city documents, the work will include “demolition of portions of existing building components, existing concrete drives, landscaping, and other various site improvements.”
The total $2.7 million project will additionally entail landscaping, and the building of drain lines, piping, and irrigation systems.
The renovation work at 2521 Camino Entrada will include office, rest room and lobby upgrades.
The RFP has a submission deadline of October 20.
