Plans are expected to be soon underway regarding the building of a new preschool that will belong to the Flowing Wells School District in Arizona.
Located in Tucson, the Flowing Wells district currently has one early childhood school, half a dozen elementary schools, one junior high school, and two senior high schools.
In November, voters in the district by a 56% to 44% margin approved Proposition 415, which had earlier been endorsed by the Flowing Wells Education Association, and called for a $30 million bond to pay for a variety of school construction projects.
Among those projects: the renovation of existing school structures, upgrading security systems, classroom renovations, and the general improvement of school grounds. The bond will also fund the replacement of deteriorating portable buildings, and energy and water efficiency system improvements.
But the project that has generated the most comment centers on the building of a new preschool designed to expand early learning access. That facility will be built on the campus of the Robert Richardson Elementary School, located at 6901 N. Camino De La Tierra.
The Flowing Wells district saw the completion of an 11,100-square-foot Community Learning Center in the fall of 2023. That project was funded by the successful passage of a $24 million bond in 2017.
One of the smaller school districts in metro Tucson, especially compared to the giant Tucson Unified School District, which has around 41,000 students, the Flowing Wells district’s most recent enrollment figures came in at just above the 5,200 mark.
