Plans have now been announced for the extensive general upgrading of a busy street in El Paso, with work slated to start early next year.
The project on Rojas Drive will see the building of new sidewalks, ramps, curbs, and gutters, as well as repairs to parkway structures and the installation of new signage.
All the structural upgrade work on two separate sections of Rojas Drive will be Americans with Disabilities Act compliant.
Altogether, the Rojas Drive project is expected to cost just over $6.3 million to complete.
Funding for the effort is coming out of the city’s Community Progress Bond Program, a $272 million proposal which was approved by voters three years ago.
City officials are additionally in the process of gathering public input for a separate project that will see the upgrading and reconstruction of Vista del Sol Drive on the east side of El Paso.
That project will also include the building of new sidewalks, driveways, and ramps and is projected to cost $9 million.
