Work Set to Launch in Early 2025 on Upgrade of Yuma County Health Building

Construction could begin early next year on the renovation and expansion of the main one-story building for the Yuma County Public Health Services District, located at 2200 W. 28th Street in the city of Yuma.

The project has been talked about and studied for the last several years and will see the building of new training and meeting space, as well as new rooms for security services, storage, and utilities.

Currently in the design development phase, the project is expected to see initial work on the southwest portion of the building, with perhaps the building of new security space coming first.

Space in the 52,000-square-foot building currently used for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children will also be upgraded and expanded.

The building sits on a 7.5-acre site located around 2 miles to the southwest of downtown Yuma on a street of mostly commercial structures and has also housed offices for the Environmental Health Services Division and the University of Arizona’s Cooperative Extension program.

Work on the project is expected to be completed by late next year.
